Garrett, 4 years

Garrett is done with naps.  He has been sleeping in until 7 am so that’s a very nice consolation.  He still takes an afternoon rest for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  He has 20 bible verses memorized plus the Fruit of the Spirit and the Armor of God.  We’ve started a phonics program.  The way it goes is he learns the sounds of one letter at a time then he learns how to write that letter then we move onto a new letter in a specific order.  He wasn’t interesting in writing letters for a while so we haven’t made a lot of progress but he’s becoming a lot more interested.  He’s a big helper and does a very good work with the jobs I give him.  He loves his baby brother!  He is very good about playing with him gently and bringing him toys and always giving him kisses and hugs.  He loves playing with his legos and building things.

Avery, 2 years

Avery is not talking yet but I taught her a little sign language so that’s been very helpful.  She still takes a really good afternoon nap.  She is learning to help with some jobs including emptying the dishwasher, switching laundry, and setting the table.  She does a good job of helping clean up toys too.  We’re practicing getting dressed and undressed now.  She is very good with Jack, not always gentle but she’s doing very well.   Avery still loves books and anything to do with animals.

Jack, 6 months

Jack is very close to crawling.  He can get up on his hands and knees but can’t quite get the movement down.  He can definitely get where he needs to go, he’ll roll himself all over the living room.  He’s practicing sitting up and can hold himself up for a few minutes at a time.  Not sleeping through the night, he still wakes up once or twice, naps are excellent though.  He loves watching his big brother and sister!  He’s always smiling at them!

  1. How long does Avery sleep in the afternoon? I always limit Samuel’s to no more than 1.5 hours because if I let him sleep until he wakes, his bedtime is WAY too late…like 9:30-10pm. So, I reluctantly wake him every afternoon so he’ll go to bed around 8:30. LOL

    • They take pretty early naps, like around 11/12 so I don’t usually wake her up unless she’s still sleeping at 3. She’ll usually take between a 2 and 3 hour nap. I’m thankful! Haha!

      • Oh, that explains it then! Sam isn’t ready until 2-3 in the afternoon. He gets up between 6:30-8:00 in the morning.
